My name is Justin Plunkett (he/him) and currently I live on Eastern Cherokee / Tsalaguwetyi land (aka Asheville, North Carolina) nestled in the very ancient and special Blue Ridge Mountains.
Over the years my journey in life has awakened me to the deep relationships that are possible with nature. Tending to and deepening these relationships with the plants and planets is part of my soul's work in this lifetime. Both plants and planets have a way of working with us on multiple levels: physical, emotional, spiritual, and more. I hope that my work here as an astrologer and herbalist helps you to deepen your relationships to the world around you too, as well as the worlds within you.
In my herbal products I aim to always work with plants that are either grown and harvested from my garden, wild-gathered from stands of lands that I've known over the years, or from local and US herb farms that have organic or organic-like standards.
Living as a highly-sensitive person in a world that is not attuned to our needs or tempo, the plants and the planets have lovingly provided solace, perspective, softness, and affirmation of my deepest self. My intention is that what I offer here, whether in a tincture bottle or a consultation room, provides that softness and sweetness for those in need.
Hawthorn is a tree that grows in groves, with thick thorns on the trunks and branches. In the Celtic tradition it has a mysterious and interesting folklore: they considered the tree to be a gateway into other multidimensional realms.
The flowers and leaves in the spring, as well as the ripe berries in the fall, are considered a medicine for the heart - physically, emotionally, energetically, multidimensionally. Even Western science recognizes the cardiovascular effects of the constituents within the berries.
Rising refers to the area of a birth chart also known as the Ascendant. It's the Eastern horizon where the Sun rises.
In this area of my birth chart there are a few signatures pointing towards heart-centered themes. So Hawthorn Rising is a reference to me and my birth chart, but also a reference to the potential of what we can create from the mystery of the heart.
